New Beginnings

The fall semester at KCC begins on Thursday, September 7, and there are many changes ahead for the Early Childhood Club.

A new faculty advisor will be on board, a new slate of officers will be elected, and a new calendar of events and activities will be planned.

Please check the Early Childhood Club bulletin board, located outside room V115, for details about the club's first meeting and other important information. (This Web site will no longer be operational once the new term begins.)

I became faculty advisor to the ECE Club in 2004. I decided to take on this role because of my deep commitment and passion for my chosen field. I want to share my experiences and expertise with students in a forum outside the classroom, and the club provides me that opportunity. I graduated magna cum laude from New York University in 1982, with a B.S. in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. In 1988, I earned my Master's Degree at Bank Street College, one of the premier institutions for ECE in the country, and whose philosophy of humanistic, child-centered learning permeates the entire ECE program at KCC. While at NYU, I did my student teaching at some of the finest early childhood programs in NYC. I know firsthand that the training a person receives as an undergraduate will impact their entire future career, so I am strongly committed to ensuring that students at KCC receive the best possible start. I have just celebrated my 15th anniversary at KCC. Prior to this I was a preschool teacher, child care center director, and early childhood consultant. I am fortunate to have enjoyed a rich and varied career in a field that I love.
